Privacy Policy

Candletide: Idle Hero RPG ("the game") is made by Candletide ("we"), an independent developer based in Ontario, Canada. This policy explains what data the game collects and why.
What we collect
- Game progress is saved on your device. If you use Android's backup, Google may back it up to your Google account.
- Online account and cloud save. When online features are on (you can switch cloud save and leaderboards off in Settings > Account & cloud save), our game server, run by us and hosted by Hetzner in the United States, stores a random player ID, the player name you choose, a copy of your game save, your leaderboard scores and your purchase receipts. If you sign in with Google Play Games, we also store your Google Play Games player ID so we can find your account on a new phone.
- Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your card details. We receive a purchase token to confirm and deliver what you bought.
- Advertising. The game shows optional rewarded ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, approximate location (from your IP address) and interaction data to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, you're asked for consent first, and you can change your choice any time in Settings > About > Privacy choices. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
- Analytics and crash reports, only if you agree. The game asks on first launch; you can change it in Settings > Account & cloud save > Privacy. Google Firebase Analytics receives gameplay events (for example: tutorial step reached, stage reached, purchase made, days since first play), and Firebase Crashlytics and Sentry receive crash and error reports. They help us fix problems and are not used to identify you or for advertising.
How it's protected
Everything sent between the game and our server is encrypted (https). Only we can access the server.
What we don't do
We don't sell your personal data. The game is rated for ages 13 and up and is not directed at children; we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your choices
- Change ad consent: Settings > About > Privacy choices.
- Delete your progress: Settings > Reset all progress, or uninstall the game.
- Delete your online account (cloud save, scores, name): see Delete your account. We delete it within 30 days. Purchase records are kept as the law requires for refunds and tax.

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the game.
